Weight-Lifting, Walking or Gardening -- which is better for you?

Which of these activities, weight-lifting, walking, or gardening is better for you?
According to the U.S. Government, and its book, "Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2005," http://www.healthierus.gov/dietaryguidelines/
Weight-lifting, (general light workout) expends 220 calories per hour.
Walking at 3.5 mph uses 280 calories per hour.
Light gardening and yard work however, expends 330 calories per hour.
The moral of the story is -- if you only have an hour to exercise, get outside and do your normal gardening chores.
The other advantages of gardening are:
- Get stronger and more flexible.
- Receive Vitamin D from the sun.
- No monthly fees for club membership.
- Fresh air
- Attitude becomes more positive.
- Helps people with SAD - Seasonal Afffected Disorder.
- Meet new people -- many people stop and talk with me as I garden outside.
Best of all -- you'll end up with a yard filled with beautiful flowers and butterflies.
